The New 2013 R1200 GS by BMW

Posted by on Oct 4, 2012 in TWO WHEELS

Twice the exhilaration and double the fun, the 2013 version of BMW’s R1200 GS dual-sport motorcycle offers a combination of style and performance. The bike, manufactured in Berlin, Germany, is in its ninth year of production and has the accoutrements to prove its prowess and new-and-improved build. The 2013 edition of the bike features an engine redesign, which now has a vertical coolant channel system that uses glycol-water instead of standard oil. Sleek and sporty defines the character, dictated by silver and black with a colorful accent across the top of the gas tank. A modern design for the exhaust pipe and dashboard complete the new look. As expected, there are multiple riding modes – five, to be exact – and each utilizes a custom electronic throttle actuator and dynamic update for the Automatic Stability Control and ABS. The front wheel of the bike has been reduced to a 19-inch diameter, reflective of the motorcycle’s lighter build and higher brake horsepower: 125 bhp at 7700 rpm.
