Booze. Colt / CE-Incense Chamber by NEIGHBORHOOD
Politically incorrect but shockingly beautiful, Booze. Colt / CE-Incense Chamber delivers a dose of retrospective reality. Part of a pottery series titled “Made in Occupied Japan”, the porcelain incense chamber captures the Americanized design of the Booze. Colt. The piece is a work from NEIGHBORHOOD, an edgy, avant-garde Japanese brand headed by Shinsuke Takizawa. Social commentary – though not so subtle – still yields to art, for the delicate touches of blue and detailed sculpting of the hand that grips the firearm are admirable. The elegance and luxury, further emphasized by painted gold accents on the sights, safety, and hammer, of the sculpture add an additional punch of irony. And of course, the piece throws in a little kitschy humor: smoke literally rises from the gun’s raised barrel once the incense is lit. Available here
