House in Bioclimatic Experimental Urbanization
This winner environmentally conscious home is built by architects Jose Luis Rodriguez Gil in the Canary Islands, Spain. Everything in the entire home is built using materials without any harmful elements, including but not limited to PVC, VOC compounds, synthetic paints, varnishes. The wood used is also certified environmentally sound. They strived to use local materials throughout the design including the stone wall being covered with volcanic lapilli. Completely running off solar power to heat water and provide all electricity, this home is putting off zero CO2 emissions.
The design features magnificent wooden beams that frame the main living area right into the beautifully landscaped outside space. Not unnoticed is the basalt stone wall serving dramatic effect. The interior has exquisite hard wood floors that spill out into a generous patio. The family area is open and airy surrounded by windows and high ceilings, you almost feel like you are standing outside. The sleeping quarters are efficient with minimum wasted space. Appropriately placed in the backdrop of wind mills and the gorgeous island terrane in the distance, this place is a sight for any environmentalists sore eyes.
