El Nebot del Persianer by Salva Nadal
In the process of upcycling, designer Salva Nadal has cleverly transposed a familiar and dated object to a fresh and novel context, all the while retaining the same functionality. “El nebot del persianer” is a collection of lamps and furniture that makes use of wooden blinds in a new fashion. The lamps employ the wooden blinds as the lampshades, the spaces between the finely-crafted slats allowing slivers of light – this time, not natural sunlight – to illuminate a space. These pieces metamorphose a forgotten trade and art into pieces that whisper old secrets with a youthful vitality. Whether the standing floor lamp, the hanging light fixture, or the storage sling accompanying a table piece suits your fancy, you can be sure that the quality and craft definitely does.
