House in Comporta by Gonçalo Salazar de Sousa

Posted by on Oct 18, 2012 in ARCHITECTURE

For those of us who aren’t ready to let go of the summer days just yet, House in Comporta represents the perfect representation of the lazy, carefree, and brilliant season. The house, designed by Gonçalo Salazar de Sousa Arquitectos sits on a site in Comporta, Portugal, which is surrounded by architecture with traditional elements such as thatched roofing. House in Comporta employs the same roof construction to provide shade for the outdoor spaces that extend from the living room. Inside, the need for circulation space is eliminated in favor of rooms that flow into one another, maximizing open and relaxing space. Light is a major player in replicating the summery atmosphere, and is magnified in luminance by the white interior and exterior walls of the residence. With color serving as a vehicle, the light blue accents also match the pool in the yard and the clear skies above.
