Case Inlet Retreat by MW Works Architecture

The minds behind MW Works Architecture + Design may have taken a cue or two from Frank Lloyd Wright’s famous Fallingwater when designing Case Inlet Retreat. But, the formula is one that works with the site that sits across from the Olympic Mountains in Washington State. The retreat house features a slab roof, accessible by set of stairs external to the house, and walls of glazing with thin frames to preserve the sense that the house floats in construction. Walls – simple planes, really – are strategically placed in the one-story to accentuate the transparency of the house and view, while still providing a needed sense of privacy. The primarily wooden interiors are a suitable choice for the residence, which sits perfectly within a forested piece of paradise.
