Greek mythology captures both tragedy and comedy, and Milanese design firm Soup Studio has cleverly incorporated such a tale in Sisifo, a handcrafted mug. The mug references the myth of Sisyphus, a king who for his hubris was punished to push an enchanted boulder perpetually up a hill. The ergonomic handle of the glazed, red mug portrays a stylized Sisyphus compelled to hold up the leaning cup for eternity. The slant of the cup itself adds another dimension of novelty to Sisifo, and transforms the functional product into an intriguing sculpture in the round. Although somewhat regrettable for this Sisyphus, it is surely a pleasure for us.
