Waiting Room Survival by Philip Lüschen

Amsterdam-based artist Philip Lüschen is doing us all a favor by addressing the common dilemma of what to do in a waiting room. Between the Sneak in Front Tool, a contraption displaying images of empty seats to hide other waiters, and the Incognito Nose Stand with false nose applications, Lüschen’s collection of knickknacks makes waiting a perfect opportunity for strategic interpersonal interaction. For those more introverted, the Waiting Room Survival Book that doubles as a spying device – eye holes are conveniently cut out near the spine of the book – is a must. The only problem that remains to be solved is how to reference the formerly dreadful space if Lüschen’s fun devices have removed the “wait” in “waiting room.”
