Donhou has constructed a ray of sunshine to ride right into our hearts with this custom bike called Pimiento Stuffed for his friend and customer Hampus. Its electric color and solid form is familiar to their past gallery standards. This bicycle shows its uniqueness with detailing in the fork tops and seat stay caps along with a security system tricking pirates with a key access and seat puzzle only the owner would be able to crack. Its handle bars are custom shaped with tan grippies.
The forward thinking Donohou company came to be as a result of ignorance. The owner unknowingly cultivated a passion for bicycles after a lifetime of riding them from youngster to adulthood. He had used them as a way to pay his tuition working as a bicycle messenger. As a kid, he competed (and won) in downhill mountain races with his BMX. The ah-ha reached him during his time in China where he slept (or at least attempted to sleep) in a tent on the side of a highway for coal trucks west of Bejing. He had just ridden across the Gobi desert, lying there, trying to rest…when it hit him. He’s been crafting these beautiful bikes by hand with the highest integrity and most tasteful style ever since.
At the Bespoked Bristol handmade bicycle show of 2011 they were awarded the Reynolds Best in Show. A judges review, “Without doubt the Donhou bike was the show stealer, the attention to detail, unique ideas and minimalist lines set it apart from allcomers. A bike that just begged to be ridden as soon as I laid eyes on it, handmade and heavenly.” We couldn’t agree more.
