Talk about WOW! Stunning sunbursts of carefully folded, cut and placed pieces of paper have taken center stage. Origami mosaics by Japanese paper engineer Kota Hiratsuka provoke energy and happiness.

Sometimes the best things in life are what you weren’t expecting. He kind of fell into this art form even though the beautiful pieces didn’t come together so easily. With a little fiddling around with paper and failing (miserably) the artist just picked his scissors back up and cut a little of this, little of that, and stumbled on this original version of the traditional origami objects. He uses a canvas concept, placing his each crafted piece of the puzzle perfectly to create patterns that continue to change each time you look them over.

The strong presence of a full maned lion fills the frame. Light hits the peeks of the folds, laying shadows convincing us he’s real.

A green fluttering pinwheel continues to reveal more images than your mind can process. Exquisite almond lines grab the color changing waves of diamond shaped folds.

I find a way to fearlessly provoke your senses and take you by the heart to whatever it is I’m writing about. My sweet spot is creative writing, but for the last 20 years I have been providing freelance content for publications on sustainability and green practices, design, architecture, fashion, and non-profit charity. Recently all wrapped up in producing my first book. I have bounced from NYC to Indianapolis, but my true home is a lovely small town in Central Pennsylvania where there’s a legit drive-your-tractor-to-school-day.
