Pedras Salgadas Eco-Resort

Posted by on Jan 5, 2013 in ARCHITECTURE, UNCATEGORIZED

Although resorts are often associated with fancy, custom getaways near a sprawling beach, the cluster of small houses in Parque de Pedras Salgadas, Portugal represents a different type of resort. The Eco-Resort uses the intimate wooded setting to create the sense of departure. Each of the seven houses are economically designed as prefab structures by Luís Rebelo de Andrade & Diogo Aguiar, and each is a permutation of the entrance/bathing, living, and sleeping modules. Bowing to nature’s splendor, the different typologies use the surrounding trees as parameters so that the wood-clad houses blend seamlessly with the environment. Similarly, the interiors are minimalistic in quiet deference to the wonders that lie right outside the door.
