Multifunctional Furniture, Lazy Folds Sofa Bed

The first folding bed, referred to back in the day as a “hide-a-bed,” was marketed just at the turn of the 20^th Century. Multifunctional furniture has come a long way since then, and Lazy Folds designed by Khalid Shafar questions the need to hide the existence of its dual identity. The construction of the two-seater sofa is inspired by natural cotton upholstery, a craft that Shafar used to observe firsthand in the Bur Dubai area. It is this composition that allows the cushion to be fan-folded seven times, at which point the 6.5-meter mattress neatly transforms into a raised seat. The comfortable cushion and wooden frame are perfect for Lazy Folds as both a low daybed and as a sofa.
