Cantilevered Desk Lamp by Taylor Donsker

As experienced by every trained architect, Taylor Donsker has probably had his share of drafting lamps and hard fluorescent lighting in the cold environment of studio. However, having put on his designer’s thinking cap, Donsker presents the Cantilevered Desk Lamp as a clever and fun response to the standard, almost cliché light fixture. Instead of being fitted with a rounded lamp shade, the Cantilevered Desk Lamp uses one of the inherent pairs of parallel plates to float an LED light. The simplification highlights the industrial beauty of the pivoting arms, and also provides 14” of illumination – a vast improvement upon a mere spotlight. The lamp is available in a multitude of colors, but for hardcore architects, black and clear-coated brushed steel are still available options.
