Lara Rios House & Atelier by F451 Arquitectura

The nature, the constructed, and the industrial meet at crossroads in Lara Rios House & Atelier designed by F451 Arquitectura. The residence in Gijón, Spain, combines the three elements in its four spatial forms for house, guest apartment, garage, and atelier. The industrial influence is evident through the exposed metal corrugated plate on the home’s interior, which is a sharp contrast to the gentle slope that brings the surrounding landscape onto the roof of the units. Faceted ceilings help arrange the rooms, which are decorated with wooden accents against the white walls.  Strategic glazing and the roofed courtyard help blend the boundaries between inside and outside, and positions the constructed form as a mediator between the two environments.
