Casting off the image that modern hotels are decadent, expensive high-rises, Friend House brings a luxury of a different kind. Designed by Ryntovt Design, the ecohotel in Dnepropertrovsk, Ukraine introduces unconventional geometries that embrace the wildlife surrounding the site. The single-floor construction features a wooden façade that mimics a simple post-and-lintel construction, which hides the shell stone rounds that form private lounging spaces. The unscripted forms and neutral palette align the house with the landscape, which is incorporated into courtyards and walkways. Irregular perforations create a unique ambience as light streams into the interior rooms through these clustered holes.
