Deskontalia Store by VAUMM

For companies with a primarily virtual presence and business model, are luxurious interiors and professional office spaces critical? For architecture studio VAUMM, this question warrants exploration, but does not bar those businesses from deserving a unique and functional workspace. VAUMM’s design for the Deskontalia pick-up location in Basque of San Sebastián integrates the tool of the center – shipping boxes – into the interior décor. Stacked boxes compose walls and tables, and the brown modular blocks are an unexpected contrast to the white masonry of the quarters. The fun solution plays to purpose, simplicity, and a sense of humor. One wonders if any employee has mistakenly sent off a part of the office’s interior with a customer!
