Forest Pond House by TDO Architecture

Ponds are uniquely rich environments; greenery that encloses the peaceful body of water creates a meditative space isolated from the banal buzz of the urban. In rural Hampshire, UK, Forest Pond House serves as a fitting complement by providing a quiet and darker space that opens up to the inviting vibrancy of the pond. Designed by TDO Architecture, the hut takes the form of the negative space created by a circle inscribed in a square. This geometry forms only narrow openings – appropriately human-sized – and preserves the reclusive, ascetic ambience within. With one curved wooden wall and another angled bounding walls, the interior space is tiered, allowing visitors to take a rest and appreciate either the dimmed inside or the cantilevered view over the pond at the end of the makeshift tunnel.
