Do magic carpets really exist? The photographs featured in the lookbook from Swedish design studio Oyyo deifies the Dhurrie rug as a magic carpet, effortlessly floating above desert sands. The entrancing geometric patterns of the collection of six rugs reflect traditional mid-Eastern design and the local craftspeople. Commissioned by Oyyo, the pieces are woven by hand from organic cotton by locals in Jodhpur, India. Though the rugs come in a variety of sizes and colors, achieved through vegetable dyes, the process of making one rug can take up to two years to complete. If magic were to be defined by parameters of beauty and devotion, then these Dhurrie rugs undoubtedly fit the bill.
