One Size Fits All by Catalin Sandu and Adrian Iancu

How do you fit over 1,000 square feet of program into an apartment of only 420? Romanian architecture students Catalin Sandu and Adrian Iancu pulled off this stunt in their entry to LifeEdited’s apartment design competition. The Manhattan apartment achieves the magic trick by hiding tricks up its sleeves; the face of a wall slides forward to reveal two fold-down beds in the wall, and a small table stretches its segmented portions to transform into a dining table that seats ten. Panels of wall deceive in their simplicity, for they open to reveal stores of extra furniture for unexpected guests. Compartmentalization and clever use of spaces make One Size Fits All an adaptable habitat that can accommodate more than the eye can see – and more than the brain would believe.
