Sculptural and minimal, the new Bo Light by Los Angeles-based studio Massess blends an analytical design approach with artistic flair. Taking inspiration from an archer’s bow, designer David Okum explored the potential and limitations of materials and manufacturing processes to deconstruct the original concept. And the result? A distinctive and functional wall light that stands out anywhere. The design focuses on simplicity, allowing the materials to guide the creation process, balancing physical forces as well as gracefulness.

The ingenious Bo Light features a curved solid oak section tensioned by bronze braided wire which also contains the hidden the controls. Touching the wire activates the LEDs – embedded in the solid wood. Ideal as a focal point and style statement in a living room, the functional design also looks right at home in a bedroom, as a bedside light. Bo Light comes in Ebony or Natural Oak, at a price of $250. Images courtesy of Massess.
