Extension vB4 by dmvA

It’s all about the angles in Extension vB4. Having to design an extension an A-frame house in Mechelen, Belgium, dmvA adapted to the unconventional form by incorporating the same inclines and slants into the volume that now houses a library and dining space. Conforming to the dark façade but contrasting it with a white interior, the extension reiterates the geometric theme through trapezoidal frames that help divide the interior spaces, and visually are a hybrid between column and ribbing. The sliding door that leads to the courtyard adapts in a similar matter, as there are no expectations for the orthogonal in this design.
