A Swedish Summer House

  • Overlooking a wooded lake, this summer house by interior designer Anna Von Schewan promises a secluded getaway. The home’s black exterior complements the pines surrounding the plot, draws in the eye, and is evocative of tobacco barns. On the inside, the house’s open space and minimalist limed wood floors and walls welcome the addition of bold interior accents such as the central fireplace, which contrasts a white hearth with black char. Throughout the home, there are large, irregularly cut windows and glass doors that natural light inside. Additionally, there are cloth curtains installed to accommodate for privacy and lend warmth to one’s Scandinavian vacation.
