Just outside beautiful Santa Maria da Feira Arquitectos Matos built a lovely L shaped home concentrating design on the courtyard gardens, simultaneously screening the bustling road to the North side of the home. The longer wing holds all the main living space, the shorter wing all the sleeping quarters.  A stellar, spacious deck hugs the inner side opening access to the gardens no matter what room you are in the house unifying the different areas and intensifying the various experiences within the family. A finishing touch outlines the backyard landscape called the “memory wall” made of stones from the home that used to stand here a long time ago. Photography by Joao Morgado

I find a way to fearlessly provoke your senses and take you by the heart to whatever it is I’m writing about. My sweet spot is creative writing, but for the last 20 years I have been providing freelance content for publications on sustainability and green practices, design, architecture, fashion, and non-profit charity. Recently all wrapped up in producing my first book. I have bounced from NYC to Indianapolis, but my true home is a lovely small town in Central Pennsylvania where there’s a legit drive-your-tractor-to-school-day.
