Ice Music

View all 1 Photos

Norwegian musician Terje Isungset, a self-described “cross between a sound artist and a shaman,” makes his own instruments from many natural materials, including ice. His Ice Music incorporates harps, horns, and xylophones as well as vocals, here by Lena Nymark and Sidsel Walstad and then Mari Kvien Brunvoll. Inviting listeners into a unique winterland, Ice Music meets craftsmanship with a keen ear; the instruments which took so much thought to create slowly melt (or refreeze), sounding different with each performance.
