Pilgrim Hostel by Sergio Rojo

View all 9 Photos

Found in Logroño, Spain, in the community of La Rioja, this large building was originally a 19th century provisional theatre. In 2013, the old theatre was converted into a pilgrim hostel by architect Sergio Rojo. The renovated building kept the original roof and rafters while recovering the facade and updating the overall space with a blend of the historic and the contemporary. Inside, for instance, there are sleek bunks and public areas surrounded by walls of concrete and stone.
