Found in Linescio, Switzerland, this stone house is more than 200 years old. From the outside, it looks it, too. The exterior is of stone and wood, intricately constructed and beautifully aged. But, the site’s history is not all of the story. Inside, one can see the renovations of Buchner Bründler Architekten, which update the interior with concrete walls and forms such as the bathtub and the bed above the fireplace. The contemporary elements complement the ancient and keep the space open to natural light and views. Minimalist and hard yet natural, the home blends old with new and rough with smooth, stirring visual interest while providing structural enhancement.
