What’s the replay value on world domination? Patrick Jean’s “Pixels” video lets the viewer decide, and it’s no surprise that the short film went viral on Youtube. “Pixels” begins with a guy curbing his vintage TV, from where 8-bit graphics break loose and stream from Brooklyn into Manhattan. Not playing anymore, classic video game characters take the skies and infiltrate the Metro system. From beneath, Pac-Man eats the subway one station at a time. Above ground, Tetris blocks fill out and level skyscrapers while King Kong and Frogger wreak chaos on the streets. A cartoon bomb, the same image that first flashed on the hay-wire TV screen, can be seen crowding a six-lane avenue, and, there’s no beating the game this time. The bomb explodes, pixelating New York and then the world.
