Designed by Estel Alcaraz, Sardines is a pair of traditional Wellington rain boots that roll up for easy packing and storage. The shoes are made of thermoplastic polyurethane, a material which is soft and recyclable. The special plastic allows the design to squeeze into a small space, like sardines in a can. Compressing to one fifth of its standing size, the footwear is secured with a branded elastic band. The bound Sardines weigh under two pounds, enabling the wearer to travel with the shoes and carry them in a bag on days when there is a chance of rain. See the boots in action on Vimeo.
