This small getaway home is a handsome addition to the rows of beach houses in Whitstable, England. Slightly elevated on galvanised steel stilts, the structure is close to the seaside and ready for the water. The exterior is clad in cedar shingles and the interior is lined with sawn softwood. The sea is readily visible from the front porch and glass wall, while the country is waiting behind the back porch and rear window. Light permeates the interior from these sides and from the pair of skylights above. Inside, the plan is open so that the bunk beds and bathrooms are tucked behind the kitchen but not walled off from the dining area, complete with a wood stove. A simple, rustic design, the beach house was created by Studiomama, makers of The Off Cuts.
