The Chargeboard is a fully functional skateboard and docking station designed by Bjorn van den Hout as his graduation project for the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. The prototype is a minimalist ride with a natural wooden board and a black and white undercarriage. Sustainable and practical, the design generates and stores power while rolling along. One hour of cruising makes enough electricity to charge a phone, and the battery stores up to eight full charges’ worth of energy. The Chargeboard was designed for the iPhone 4 and 4S, though its external USB and 3.5mm audio jack allow it to charge and play other devices, such as iPads and Samsung phones as well.
