The Chargeboard is a fully functional skateboard and docking station designed by Bjorn van den Hout as his graduation project for the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. The prototype is a minimalist ride with a natural wooden board and a black and white undercarriage. Sustainable and practical, the design generates and stores power while rolling along. One hour of cruising makes enough electricity to charge a phone, and the battery stores up to eight full charges’ worth of energy. The Chargeboard was designed for the iPhone 4 and 4S, though its external USB and 3.5mm audio jack allow it to charge and play other devices, such as iPads and Samsung phones as well. See the design up close and in action in the technical and lifestyle videos on Vimeo.
