The latest addition to the Design Hotels group, the Miss Clara Hotel is a boutique getaway in Stockholm. A unique choice for travelers, the hotel was initially designed by the Swedish architects Hagström & Ekman in 1910. In its past life, the Art Nouveau building served as the Ateneum girls’ school, and the hotel honors this history by carrying the name of headmistress Clara Stromberg today.

Converted by architect Gert Wingardh, the updated space pays homage to its roots by keeping its high ceilings, arched windows, and original staircase. The interior pairs traditional materials such as wood, limestone, glass, and leather with a spartan palette of neutral colors. In shades of black, white, and brown, the rooms embody a soft, old-world aesthetic. The sleeping areas are textured with accents such as headboards by Gemala and wooden floors in a herringbone parquet pattern. Altogether, the minimalist details make the Miss Clara Hotel an ideal place for romantic vacations and creative contemplation.

On top of good design, guests can expect many world-class amenities, including soft bathrobes, Orla Kiely toiletries, and the every-handy minibar and safe. Inside the building, there is a gym and sauna, two meeting and event rooms, and options for dinner and drink. The restaurant specializes in authentic, locally-sourced food such as Swedish deer steak, grilled char, and cheese pies, all served in a charming, low-lit atmosphere. Between meals, visitors can sip cocktails at Miss Clara’s trendy bar or indulge in 24/7 champagne service.

Stepping outside, travelers will find themselves right on Sveavagen Boulevard, just blocks from Central Station. The hotel is located at the heart of Stockholm’s Norrmalm district, where both popular sights and local gems are easily within walking distance. Meeting historical architecture and contemporary attractions, the Miss Clara hotel offers a rich experience at mid-range prices, making this spot a hit with young couples, families, and business travelers who know how to relax.
