This dining and Ping Pong Table shows that necessities and whimsy can go together. Designed by Tyler Hays of BDDW American Made Furniture, the dual-function “oddity” was born of coexisting passions for ping pong and simplicity. Hays wanted a ping pong table for himself, though he could not justify creating a large piece of furniture just for sport. “No one thinks they have room for a ping pong table until you have one that’s pretty enough to double as a dining table,” he said. He found a creative solution in this fun take on an everyday table.

The furnishing is made of locally sourced hardwood and leather. Specifically, the tabletop is cherry, the legs are maple, and the detachable net is leather with a chestnut patina. Handcrafted in Philadelphia, the piece is valued at $13,500, not including customizations and add-ons such as the paddle set and leather sleeves. The furniture is available for purchase at the BDDW showroom in New York.
