This ancient home in Sernancelhe, Portugal, was recently renovated by the architecture firm Corpo Atelier. The updated house retains its stone walls and traditional pitched roof, though the interior is remapped and resurfaced for a more open, minimalist space. Where the home was once two distinct levels, it is now a split volume of lofts and nooks that keep the overall space connected. The interior is painted white and accented by naturally finished wooden pillars and beams, which, in this bare design, are as important to the aesthetic as they are to the structure. Simply yet precisely detailed, this rural home is both a soothing retreat and an exciting space to explore.
