Following up on their Fresh Collection from 2010, Old Spice just released their Fresher Collection of scented grooming products inspired by nature. The line includes new Amber, Citron, and Timber fragrances as well as a softer versions of enduring favorites Fiji and Denali. The collection focuses on recognizable, appealing essences such as pineapple, sandalwood, and molasses. GBlog compared the natural inspiration with the deodorants at a testing session, and you could really trace the scent.
The Fresher Collection takes after fruits and spices that you can find in the great outdoors. Of the new scents, Timber has the strongest profile with herbal notes of woodchips and mint. Amber is the sweetest, mixing molasses, seaberry, sap, blackcurrant, and, of course, amber in one warm, foraged feast for the nose. Citron is the lightest with a beachy fusion of citrus, lemongrass, and sandalwood. The two returning scents, Fiji and Denali, smell more like classic cologne. Fiji is a complex blend of juniper, blood orange, wood, amber, coconut, and musk. Denali goes in a simpler but spicy direction with its particular brew of rosemary, lavender, vanilla, amber, and sandalwood. Amber, Citron, and Denali are now available as an anti-perspirant/deodorant, a deodorant, a body wash, and a body spray, respectively. Timber and Fiji are now in stores as all of the above, plus bar soap and shampoo.
Each scent is protected with Proctor & Gamble’s BCD technology, such that enzymes, or “odor-fighting donuts,” trap stink and release a fresh blast of Old Spice when you sweat. The mechanism makes the products longer-lasting, so that you get a clean feeling throughout the day.
According to a 100-person study, the natural-smelling fragrances also have a calming effect on the wearer. In an experiment by Innerscope Research, guys reported feeling more relaxed, positive, and masculine after smelling the Fresher Collection.
