Kin Kao Thai Kitchen is a new eatery in Vancouver, Canada. Led by the Bangkok-born chef Tang Poonchai, the restaurant offers a mix of street- and home-style Thai recipes made with locally sourced ingredients. Catering to local people as well as traveling foodies, the restaurant is open for lunch, dinner, and take-out. Kin Kao Thai Kitchen was designed by Scott and Scott Architects to make the most of its 25-seat space and achieve a casual, familiar atmosphere. The interior design is half in neutral colors and half in cobalt blue. To keep the scene cool, the furniture is made of naturally finished wood, and there are simple galvanized wall panels and table bases. For a touch of zest, the plywood, lye, and soaped beech counters are washed with azure paint. The two looks great together, especially under the custom soaped beech and leather light fixtures. Altogether, these elements make the restaurant a real feast in appearance and experience.
