Called the “Passage of Landscape House,” this two-story family home has pathways connecting North and South on the ground floor and East and West on the upper level. More concretely, the ihrmk design opens itself up to the surrounding landscape of Toyota, Japan, with a series of gates and windows. The gates on the lower level allow the residents to pass through the house undeterred. Further up, the stacked windows enable them to look out over the lemon trees, Magnolia figo, and terraced rice paddies. The interior has a natural quality as well. Lined with wooden planks, the white walls and ceilings reflect sunlight, and the naturally finished floors bring organic color and texture into the home.
