The Tubakuba (or Tuba Cube) Mountain Hub is a tiny mountainside cabin in Bergen, Norway. Inspired by its namesake musical instrument, the Opaform design features a tunnel entrance that resembles the bell of a tuba. The unique getaway is clad in larch wood with a charred, Shou Sugi Ban finish. For contrast, the entrance and interior are lined with plywood. Inside, the small space is outfitted with curved built-in seating, a ladder, and a wood-burning stove. A single large window reveals a sweeping view of the mountainside and city below.

But, don’t let the contemporary design fool you. This off-grid retreat offers a pretty rustic camping experience with no installed lighting and no toilet. If you get the chance to stay at the Tubakuba Mountain Hub, come prepared to be up close and personal with the wilderness.
