SilverWoodHouse is the first commissioned project by the young architect Ernesto Pereira. While crafting a private home for his family, Pereira was sighted by a couple moving into the same neighborhood. Impressed by his work, they asked him to renovate their home-to-be in the cape city of Mindelo, Portugal. Pereira got to know them over time and designed their home to reflect their passions, their love for the beach in particular.

Like a bright seaside home, the resulting SilverWoodHouse contrasts naturally finished and white painted wood inside and out. The warm color palette enhances the lighting within the home and outdoors on the terrace. Inside, the home has an open design with many spacious areas such as the home office with built-in shelving. Nonetheless, the architecture beckons one outside onto the balconies and terrace. On the wood-lined patio, one will find a pool, a seemingly floating deck, a sandy garden, and shore-inspired furniture such as a crocheted hammock, bean bags under a canopy, and lounge chairs for stretching out and tanning. The white fabric details are a crisp and clean yet soft counterpart to the otherwise woodsy design. Photography by João Morgado
