An interior design project by Fabio Fantolino, Basilica updates a home in Turin, Italy with a palette of neutral colors. In every room but the bathroom, the walls and ceilings are painted white. The white backdrop in the living room is a particular standout, as it includes a painted brick panel and contrasts with the vintage wooden floors of various patterns. In the kitchen, minimalist white cabinets are paired with a black backsplash. Additionally, there is a partial interior wall obscuring the worktop. To create dialogue between the open plan kitchen and dining room, the barrier is engraved with a Harriet Van Horne quotation, “Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all.” In more private areas such as the master bedroom and bathroom, the floors are polished for a smooth, sophisticated effect. The square-framed bed is a particular standout in the bedroom, and the bathroom is a dark, cozy space with black panels. All of the rooms are finished with gray, black, and brown furniture and decor to round out the earthy look.
