The Aluminum Cabin is a JVA design replacing a decayed getaway in Vestfold, Norway. Part of an archipelago, the rocky location partially shields the new construction with natural outcrops. Prepared for weather and wear nonetheless, the retreat is clad in seawater-resistant aluminum. The shining facade may seem out of place, depending on one’s angle and material preferences, but, from the right perspective, it actually reflects and almost blends in with the environment.

Inside, the minimalist cabin is divided into two sections—one with bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchen enclosed and the other with living and dining room open to seaside views. The glazed walls of the common area overlook the patio and the water, letting one enjoy the natural scenery and the comforts of a fireside dinner in a furnished room.
