The limited edition Hanhart Primus Survivor Pilot is an ambitious attempt to unite the design and features of an authentic pilot’s watch with the aesthetics of urban professional attire. Called an “urban survivor”, the Primus Survivor Pilot is water resistant to 100 meters, has a rotating bezel, a generous lume, and anti-reflective coating. The band is a dark, woven fabric strip, eschewing leather, which may stain or discolor with wear, and uses a deployment clasp instead of a traditional buckle. The red pusher is somewhat smaller than a traditional pilot’s watch, a practical concession to the needs of the urban environment.

All this military styling is complemented by a rugged case of sandblasted steel designed to hide minor scuffing, a testament to the active nature of the piece. And each watch comes with a handmade watch pouch, locally crafted in Germany.

Standing 15mm off the wrist, the tall, angular, Hanhart Primus Survivor Pilot is somewhat bulkier than most watches worn for professional attire. It is probably unsuited to more formal workplaces, as well as the most rigorous survival needs. But the for an active professional who seeks fashion as well as function, this limited edition watch makes a bold and unique statement.
