Like camping, but hate eating out of a can? The Camp Champ, created by Austrian designer Franz Moser, brings all the quality amenities of a working kitchen fireside, so you can prepare and serve a meal for up to six people no matter where you are. At just 154 lbs (when full), the compact box unfolds to provide a garbage can holder on each door, a flip-down counter top, a four-burner gas stove (yes, four), a coffee percolator, a knife block, grater, stainless steel colander, a set of pots and pans, a spice and dish rack, and a set of (real) plates and utensils; it’s hard to imagine you could need anything else.

The Camp Champ is made from the same strong, high-quality plywood used for boatbuilding with African sapele wood veneers, a refined detail seen in furniture, guitar construction, and lining the dashboard of the Cadillac XTS.

The structure is purpose-built to fit these specific tools in a mere 27”x21”x21” space that doubles as a portable cushioned seat when closed. Conceived with his own outdoor experience in mind, Moser took no design shortcuts; the Camp Champ is made from the same strong, high-quality plywood used for boatbuilding with African sapele wood veneers, a refined detail seen in furniture, guitar construction, and lining the dashboard of the Cadillac XTS. Galvanized steel corner enforcements and aluminum edge protectors are paired with a weatherproof finish and laminated work surface for optimal durability that doesn’t infringe on Camp Champ’s classic style. Although endless variations of the “chuck box” are being made and used, the aptly-named Camp Champ is without a doubt the best of its kind; Moser understands that just because you’re not at home doesn’t mean you can’t have all the comforts of a well-stocked kitchen. After he finally brought the design to the market this year, it was has been seen at a series of European trade shows including Abenteuer und Allrad. And its utility goes beyond the campgrounds; Moser suggests it could be used on a boat, at a tail-gate or picnic, or even on the patio. See how it all fits together with their video and order your own Camp Champ from $6,120.
