Come May 2013, Italian bike enthusiast and entrepreneur Andrea Colussi found herself thinking “now what?” So he decided to team up with designer Giulio Gianturco and engineer Giampietro Lorenzon to reinvent the bicycle; built upon classic geometry, their creation – called “G_Bicycle” — incorporates removable core elements within the traditional aluminum frame for a clean yet compact, collapsible form. They consider it “a new way of interpreting the bicycle,” made with such strict attention to detail and craftsmanship that a mere glance might start your heart racing. A slick Brooks saddle and leather Cambium bar tape give the simple machine an element of refinement that looks just as good against your living room wall as it does rolling through the streets. The G-Bicycle is available as either “Taddeo” (Men’s) or “Carlotta”(Women’s) models, each of which is offered in a variety of colors: blue, white, creamy white, English green, teal blue, medium gray, black, or even custom.

Lizzie

Lizzie Wright is an aspiring artist and designer with a passion for the written word. While she works on her BFA in Industrial Design at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), she spends her (rare) spare time riding around Providence on her trusty Cannondale and drinking lots of coffee. She is especially fascinated by the dichotomy between aesthetic form and function, which has an immense influence on her work. As a lover of the natural world, Lizzie plans to focus on Nature, Culture, and Sustainability Studies to pursue a more efficient future for design. Read more by visiting her website
