Canadian designers and partners Félix Guyon and Audrée Larose — of the recently launched studio “Larose Guyon” in Verchères — have released their first collection which appears to merge the fields of fine art and functional design just as the two are united in their relationship. “Through a romantic aesthetic, we infect daily life with a poetic beauty captured in every luxurious object that has been coated with warmth and humility.” Meticulously crafted from glistening copper with the help of local artisans, ‘La Belle Epoque’ (or “the good times”) embodies this dedication to simplicity and elegance. Inspired by a long history in the worlds of art, nature, and tradition, each piece feels high-end, distinctive, luxurious and warm as if Larose and Guyon are hoping to share their passion for one another with the rest of the world. “I think we had been looking for each other for a long time…We must have been made for each other in our common passion for creation, because since then we never stopped evolving, and it gets better and better. Design is the seed, Larose Guyon becomes our roots and our first collection…is the first bud of a tree that’s merely sprouting!” The series includes Victor, a variety of candlesticks, Adèle, a wine rack, Cléo, a table or wall mirror, Henri, a gracefully oblong fruit bowl, and Auguste, a sleek book stand for the chicest of home chefs. Straight-forward, functional, and stylish, each and every piece in the lovers’ latest collection is truly a work of art.

Lizzie Wright is an aspiring artist and designer with a passion for the written word. While she works on her BFA in Industrial Design at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), she spends her (rare) spare time riding around Providence on her trusty Cannondale and drinking lots of coffee. She is especially fascinated by the dichotomy between aesthetic form and function, which has an immense influence on her work. As a lover of the natural world, Lizzie plans to focus on Nature, Culture, and Sustainability Studies to pursue a more efficient future for design. Read more by visiting her website
