Ahhhh. Nothing beats having a warm and cozy bed to call your own. While it’s something we often take for granted, sleep is an essential function that has a profound impact on daily life. That’s why San Francisco-based group Rumpl designs with a focus on the land of dreams. Frustrated by traditional bedding, outdoorsmen Wylie Robinson and Nick Polinko began Rumpl last year as an exploration of textile performance, warmth and durability. “We felt that something we use every day deserved more consideration,” say the designers, who could find nothing they liked better than their puffy sleeping bags and coats that had been created for outdoor use. Just like your favorite sweatshirt or hoodie, their latest “Super Fleece blanket” merges familiar comfort with advanced performance; a technical knit repels water, stains, and odor above while an underside of antimicrobial, ultra-soft fleece keeps you warm. Nature-inspired top stitching demonstrates the brand’s inherent connection to all things outdoors. Unlike typical comforters, which get their plush feeling from odor-retaining and hard-to-wash down feathers, the Super Fleece uses modern activewear innovations to create a textile that provides the same benefits when you’re not awake. It’s the best choice for your bed, “wherever your bed may be.” Whether you’re sharing a laugh by the fire or lounging on the couch with a glass of wine, you can take the Super Fleece with you – and it’s big enough to share. Now available on kickstarter – where Rumpl has already surpassed its goal nearly 12 times over — you can choose from 30 color combinations (including a custom accent pattern by artist Jeremy Collins) and three sizes (twin, queen, and king) to get your own by May 2016.

Lizzie Wright is an aspiring artist and designer with a passion for the written word. While she works on her BFA in Industrial Design at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), she spends her (rare) spare time riding around Providence on her trusty Cannondale and drinking lots of coffee. She is especially fascinated by the dichotomy between aesthetic form and function, which has an immense influence on her work. As a lover of the natural world, Lizzie plans to focus on Nature, Culture, and Sustainability Studies to pursue a more efficient future for design. Read more by visiting her website
