A Texan with a passion for traveling, John Humphreys founded the Texas Rover Company in 2011 to create products inspired by the past and designed for the adventurers of the present and the future. Humphreys has always been fascinated by the spirit, determination and passion of the explorers who had discovered new lands with the help of high quality, handmade gear. With that sense of exploration in mind, the company has designed the Humphrey Chair as a modern interpretation of an antique 1800s camp chair.

Inspired by a functional item which had been used by South African explorers, the new version brings a new level of sophistication and elegance to the classic design. The collapsible base features reclaimed native pecan wood from Texas, expertly hand-sanded, hand-finished, and put together by master craftsmen. Custom brass bolts and carbon steel hardware guarantee a lifetime of use. The seat is made out of A-grade, full-grain oiled leather in black or brown, and it’s designed to be comfortable for prolonged use yet made with a rugged finish to withstand the elements.

Hand crafted using traditional techniques and artisan flair, the Humphrey Chair wonderfully blends modern style, vintage charm, and portability in an elegant design. The chair will suit a space by the fire under the clear night sky, with mountains rising in the distance or waves crashing on a beach, but it will also look at home in a sleek, minimalist interior. As the manufacturing process is complex and completed entirely by hand, the chair will be available only in a very limited quantity.
