Based in Portland, USA, Shwood designs handmade sunglasses and eyewear inspired by nature, producing frames from various materials, including wood and stone. The company “merges precision technology with classic skilled craftsmanship to create a timeless art form”, and every step of the manufacturing process is carefully observed to produce entirely handcrafted eyewear. For the new Badlands Collection, the passion for all natural things is taken one step further. At the core of the range stands a desire to encapsulate the endless source of inspiration, nature. Using an innovative high-pressure resin casting and artisan skill, Shwood has taken osprey feathers and desert flowers and embedded them into the frames to create one-of-a-kind items which look like works of art.

At the core of the range stands a desire to encapsulate the endless source of inspiration, nature.

There are two types of frame materials available for both the feather and flower models. One is crafted from sustainably-sourced, premium-grade walnut wood that boasts rich brown tones and gorgeous grain textures. The other version is made from Mazzucchelli Italian acetate, a renewable material produced from wood pulp and cotton, offering durable, strong, and lightweight frames which are environmentally friendly and natural. The Canby frames feature cruelty free, naturally molted feathers in gray, brown, and darker tones and textures, while the Belmont and the Madison models come with dried and shredded desert flowers in shades of brown, tan, and red. For Shwood, quality is paramount, so all products are completed using Optics by Carl Zeiss Vision CR-39 or Carl Zeiss polarized lenses. Unique and creative, the Badlands Collection takes the beauty of nature and blends it with stylish design, craftsmanship, and innovative manufacturing methods to provide timeless eyewear and sunglasses which will last a lifetime.
