In the US, under 35% of households recycle. This worrying statistic shows that most Americans still need to make the switch to a sustainable way of living, and RE.BIN aims to make that transition easier. Founded by an environmental lawyer with a passion for modern design, the company’s mission is to transform recycling into a convenient, ubiquitous, and stylish part of life. Designed with clean lines and a minimalist appearance, the bin is a far cry from classic recycling bins which are usually hidden in a kitchen cabinet. RE.BIN is intended to make recycling easier and time efficient, but crucially, it’s also meant to be used as a décor piece in a kitchen or living room area. It’s a clever design decision that brings recycling to open living spaces, instead of delegating it to dark, closed sections of the home, and places sustainability at the center of everyday activities. Perfect for smaller urban apartments, RE.BIN will occupy less space than a traditional bin. The patent-pending design is not only aesthetically pleasing, it’s also created for use with easy to recycle grocery paper bags. The bin is made in Vermont, US, from 100% recycled and recyclable plastics and it will be available in white or black. Customized products featuring plant based inks are also offered for smaller or larger businesses. Learn more about the design process, support the campaign, and pre-order the bin here.
