At the beginning of the 20th century, shaving was a completely different daily ritual compared to what it is today. Marco Vermeer and Remco Smit wanted to capture that feeling and infuse it in a simple, elegant razor that combines the old-fashioned shaving experience with a modern product designed to last a lifetime. They founded RZR, a company that creates products for the contemporary man who values great design and sustainability. With the help of Patrick Schuur, founder of the form + function design studio, they have made the first prototype for RZR Shaving. It follows four basic principles: comfort, sustainability, beauty, and value.

To go from idea to finished prototype, Schuur went through three years of arduous development stages that included the initial concept perfected along the way through 2D sketches, with the input of two founders of the company, then 3D concepts which lead to the first prototype, created using innovative and high quality 3D printing techniques. The final design features no moving parts to guarantee a lifetime of use, while also helping to rejuvenate the old tradition of passing a shaving razor from father to son. The blades are precisely positioned to provide a clean and close shave, while the handle is made to fit beautifully in the hand and to allow the user to use wrist movements to achieve a perfect shave, day after day. The heavier titanium material has a distinct weight and feel to it which differentiates it from modern plastic products. The blades can also be recycled easily, for more peace of mind. Stylish and contemporary, the razor system successfully blends the traditional ritual of shaving with the beauty and craftsmanship of the past in a sleek yet sustainable design. You can support the RZR Shaving campaign on Kickstarter to help fund the manufacturing process which will be completed in-house. The first kits will be sent to the backers starting in December 2016.
