Created with a clean aesthetic, the Rone sneakers combine the spirit of the skateboarding culture, contemporary style and plenty of craftsmanship in a modern design. The company, founded by professional skateboarder Tony Ferguson, uses only natural materials and water-based glues to produce the footwear. Each pair is made by hand in a limited number to ensure the company’s environmental impact is minimal. The Eighty Six and Ninety models have been released recently and they take the design of the classic sneaker to a new level of elegance. The hand-sewn leather uppers are complemented by the Italian vegetable tanned leather toe caps and foxing, with stitching details on the upper enhancing the design. Inside, natural calf liners and insoles in a light sandy tone bring more comfort and add a touch of contrast against the dark exterior. The midsoles are made of natural cork, a notoriously green material, while the outsoles are custom-made using a combination of leather and rubber. Natural cotton waxed laces complete the design, and they’re navy blue for the Eighty Six and black for the Ninety. You can order a pair or both of them here. Images courtesy of Rone.
